A cultural movement that continues to express creativity decade after decade is none other than Hip-hop. Globally recognized, the Hip-hop community encompasses various forms of expression including deejaying, emceeing, b-boying, and graffiti. The American Institute of Architecture organized the opening of Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop Architecture to display installments of creative expression. In this video, you’ll see how we utilized a variety of printing and finishing techniques to exhibit creative artistry:
At Think Box Media, we had the privilege of working with the Center for Architecture by bringing works of art to life and showcasing them at this exhibition. By creating an environment so compelling, the works of students, academics, and practitioners were admired by countless attendees. To do this, we installed custom wall murals using printed adhesive vinyl, resulting in a smooth installation. A number of wall murals were created not only to showcase the work of talented artists, but to bring awareness to art forms of the urban community. Using adhesive vinyl significantly impacted the way each mural was displayed, as the execution is more clean, fresh, and polished.
Other custom wall murals were displayed using wheat paste posters. Wheat paste, a liquid adhesive made from wheat flour or starch and water, was used for adhering paper posters to the walls. This technique has become widely popular for promoting various forms of artwork. Furthermore, the event gained attraction from all walks of life who were also admirers of the exterior windows that displayed our plotter cut vinyl decals.
Collectively, the event came together as an embodiment of creative energy. Our team is dedicated to making graphics that vitalize different works of art. We are equipped with resources that enable us to produce various sizes and shapes for all types of events.
